Made entirely from Nicaraguan tobacco, the upcoming Trinidad Espiritu is a collaboration between Fernandez and Rafael Nodal, head of product capability for Tabacalera USA. It marks the first time that Fernandez has ever worked with the Trinidad brand, but the second time for Nodal. (Astute smokers will recall the Trinidad Santiago brand, made in the Dominican Republic by José “Jochy” Blanco.)
As for the blend, it’s a Nicaraguan puro. Th wrapper is a great-looking rosado color not found on many cigars from the A.J. Fernández factory. There are small veins and a bit of discoloration on two cigars, one cigar seems rolled soft, but overall the appearance is good. Aroma from the wrapper has a bit of barnyard initially before a rich caramel, some birchwood, wet leaves and eucalyptus; some of the barnyard and acidity stick around on the back end.Flavor is medium-full, body is full and strength is medium.
